Join A New Task Group On NAFS Standards Review

Hello Fenestration Canada Members,

Thank you to those who have already responded to the future NAFS group inquiry. There was a minor correction to the explanation of the current NAFS groups to ensure we are accurately representing the process and some additional information to provide on timelines.

To provide concise feedback on future NAFS standards suggestions, Terry Adamson and I have decided to put a task group together to evaluate the language of the current 440 (NAFS) and 440.S1 (Supplement to NAFS) and work with a small group to outline opportunities for improvement.

For those who have not participated in the updates to the various CSA standards, what typically happens is members involved in the technical committee work will suggest changing or altering single sections. To better serve you all, we believe that providing a whole document commentary for CSA 440 and 440.S1, will help put forward language better aligned with industry needs.

Please let terry@fenestrationcanada.ca or adrian@fenestrationcanada.ca know if you are interested in participating.on suggestions for the 2028 standard. We expect that the work of this task group will last the next two years, and members could expect meetings to run a minimum of once a quarter for 1-2 hours. We look forward to our first meeting in early 2025.

The outcome of this would be a standard commentary we can run discussions against in the future as our industry evolves.

Thank you in advance to any volunteers interested!

Sincerely,

Adrian Edge

Director - Codes and Regulatory Affairs
