Silicone Coatings: A Guide to Specifying Spandrel and Backpainted Glass
3:15pM-4:15pm
Glass coating chemistry selection can affect both anticipated aesthetic and performance project characteristics, while expectation of glass and coating configuration and operation vary widely within CSI MasterFormat Division 08 and 09 based on the detailing of performance, prescriptive, or proprietary types of specification. This course provides specifiers, architects, and designers critical education about specifying silicone-based glass coating technologies based on project-driven requirements. Attendees will learn about key technical, aesthetic, and performance considerations for spandrel and backpainted glass, including applicable standards. Product defense methods will also be addressed to improve communication between design and construction teams, and strengthen their data-driven focus to utilize silicone-coated glass to meet design and performance goals.

The Engineering Process; Before or After you Quote a Project
2pm-3PM
This presentation will cover the following topics:
History of fenestration engineering and how structural engineering has been managed in construction.
The transition from standardization fenestration systems to customization systems and how this impacts engineering.
Who is responsible for code compliance, the manufacture, the engineer or architect and how is responsibility passed through the process?
How do you navigate conflicts on code and standard and who can make the decisions.
Specs that appear to be “copy and paste” versus the request for project specific structural design and thermal modeling.
