Jonathan started his career as a chemist and has a technical background in metallurgy, chemical pretreatment, and paint. He has progressed through a variety roles and responsibilities in the fields of quality engineering, sales, and marketing. He now focuses on the Building Products market specializing in powder, liquid, and e-coat finishes.

Dissecting EPDs with Dr. Zargar – Exploring the Relationship Between Service Life, PCRs, & Embodied Carbon

This discussion will journey through the ‘how‑to’ of developing an EPD for fenestration, highlight the power of the PCR, and explore the relationship between a product’s service life and its embodied carbon.
Dr. Shiva Zargar is a life cycle assessment (LCA) scientist and accredited EPD verifier with more than a decade of experience helping businesses navigate complex environmental challenges. As the founder of Build Neutral, she combines data-driven solutions with practical insight to guide organizations toward sustainable success. She holds a PhD in Sustainable Bioeconomy from the University of British Columbia (UBC), supported by the Vanier Canada Graduate Scholarship, and combines academic excellence with practical impact across industrial ecology, environmental modelling, and techno-economic analysis. With two master’s degrees, one in biosystem mechanics in the field of renewable energies and another in biology focusing on environmental impact assessment, she is a frequent contributor to conferences and publications. Dr. Zargar is committed to empowering businesses through the lens of life cycle thinking.
