Conformance vs. Performance

The adoption of the national building code should bring about uniformity for all projects in Canada; yet it fails to include a clear hierarchy of requirements.  Additionally, manufactures face multiple layers of liability, from adherence to Federal/Provincial acts to project specifications, and everything in between.  The way forward requires an understanding of the interrelated nature of compliance to standards and product performance on site.  Along with a reviewing the alignment and opposition of these overlapping metrics, we will also explore strategic and pragmatic approaches to overcoming ongoing industry frustrations.
