CFIB has released a statement on U.S. aluminum tariffs below:
Small business owners are disappointed with the U.S. government’s plan to re-impose tariffs on imports of Canadian aluminum. The tariffs will hurt small firms involved in the aluminum industry and related services. CUSMA was ratified to avoid these arbitrary and unnecessary events from our trading relationships.
CFIB has already heard from many small firms involved in manufacturing and the beverage industry that Canada’s retaliatory tariffs will impose higher costs at a very challenging time.
The instability caused by trade tensions is tough on SMEs at the best of times. As small firms begin the long road to recovery from COVID-19, these actions are especially challenging. CFIB calls on the US government to quickly end this action.
