Hello Fenestration Canada members,
I want to thank the board and our members for supporting and trusting the Fenestration Canada team with the responsibility and resources to pursue the means to remove the HS code related to glass. With the support of Maple Leaf Strategies, we have arranged a meeting with the Director of Finance Canada, who is in charge of guiding this matter.
The Fenestration Canada team will meet with the director on Friday, March 28th, to argue our case before the 125 Billion dollar counter-tariff list to be put into effect on April 2nd.
For anyone interested in supporting, the strongest message we can make is to send the letter provided in this announcement to your local MP to urge the Federal government to make this change. As some of you will note, this letter specifically calls out float glass and not all of the glass codes. Our time with the director is extremely limited, and our best chance of getting a code removed is to focus on one. Please be assured that if the conversation provides an opportunity, we will be advocating for further protections.
I want to thank you all again, personally. It's my honour to support our industry and act as your representative to combat this and future issues affecting the Canadian Fenestration market.
Thank you,
Adrian Edge
