Inward swinging awning windows are acceptable for egress if they meet the minimum clearance and area dimensions when open. As per NBC 2015, Bedroom egress, section 9.9.10.1 (2) **
2) The window referred to in Sentence (1) shall
a) provide an unobstructed opening of not less than 0.35 m2/3.77 sqft in area with no dimension less than 380 mm/15” and
b) maintain the required opening during an emergency without the need for additional support.
Hardware must not encroach into the required opening area.
**Recommend discussing with local AHJ, as access to the opening could be compromised with this type of application.
